Well – I’ve been organizing a rally for (mostly) Ural riders for the last couple of years – and this past Saturday was the 2012 Rally – National Rally Day 2012. Dave and David and I rode out to Kendalia for burgers and then Hit the Blanco Bowling Club for pie on the way back.

National Rally Day Route to Kendalia
We rode out Creek Road, then made a loop up through Johnson City, and back through Hye, and down Crabapple Road to Kendalia. A front had blown through, and it was cooled off from the 104 we had here on Friday – which was a relief.

My Ural is in the back getting the timing gears replaced (along with a top -end – and whatever else I find that needs to be fixed – so I’ve got a new ride. A 2006 Bonny with a Texas sidecar. Really different from the Ural – I’ve only had it 2 weeks. It is a pretty machine.

Stop for Pics
Dave was on his 07 Patrol, and David was on his Ducati – so we were a real Euro-mixed bag.

Blue skies and white lines
After the front it was blue skies – about 70 when he took off – haven’t seen many days like this for riding this summer.

Hard to beat cool temps and a good view
We made a loop up through Sandy and then cut down towards Hye.

Pedernales Crossing
There was even some water in the Pedernales – which was nice to see.
We rolled into Kendalia right before the lunch rush –

Open for business
And they were open and the grill was hot.

Choices, choices
David tries to decide if he wants a drink or a new radiator hose.

Kendalia Burger
But the only real choice is the Kendalia Burger – tasted mighty good after a hundred miles of Hill Country roads.

Pie bound
The only thing to do after a Kendalia Burger is go find some pie – so we rode up Old Blanco Road.

Blanco Bowling Club
To the Blanco Bowling Club – you can’t pass Pie in a Bowling Alley – especially an old 9-Pin alley like this one.

Coconut Pie
And the pie rolls a 300 here –

Good day
It was a 267km run – excellent weather, excellent friends, and excellent pie. Can’t ask for more than that.
